Pick ’n Pay, SABC and Aon have all, in the space of a few days, announced plans to conduct large-scale cutbacks and retrenchments. Arjen de Bruin, Director at OIM International, believes that companies should make the decision to retrench workers based on strategic, long-term forecasting. He believes that often, companies are too focused on immediate cost cutting when instead they should look at increasing productivity with their current employee structure.
I would like to offer you an interview with Arjen to further discuss his interesting views. He is also keen to talk about:
- Why companies should adopt a scientific approach to retrenchments
- What he means by a scientific approach to retrenchments
- How long-term forecasting could result in fewer retrenchments and the ability to take advantage of opportunities
- The most important factors for increasing productivity without retrenchments
