There’s been swift reaction to the parliamentary portfolio committee on labour’s decision to restrict employment of labour brokers to three months.
Umkhonto Labour Holdings managing director Debbie Lieberthal said the government had “successfully destroyed” the countr as this would hamper people getting work.
Cosatu spokesperson Patrick Craven said nothing less than a “total ban” would be acceptable, adding it was lies that labour brokers created jobs.
The Free Market Foundation chairperson Herman Mashaba, said: “There is no way to force business to employ what they cannot afford.”
Chris Jacobs, of OIM International, said: “We are in favour of industries that can afford to keep people on a permanent basis, but only if they are making profits.”
